Says the President of the United States (whom I shall be referring to as the “#lyinglunatic” or simply, “the lunatic”) in reference to GM announcing in 2018 that they plan to launch 20 new all-electric vehicles by 2023.

Here is what the #lyinglunatic said: “They’ve changed the whole model of General Motors. They’ve gone to all-electric. All-electric is not going to work … It’s wonderful to have it as a percentage of your cars, but going into this model that she’s doing I think is a mistake”. (Reuters)

For years now, the lunatic has been displaying his profound ignorance on essentially every subject with his daily lies, distortions, and non-stop displays of bigotry, racism, xenophobia and misogyny, all in service of his monumental narcissism which is supported by a complete lack of any moral or ethical foundation.

He is a lunatic because he is disconnected from reality. In regards to electric cars, he completely ignores the fact that Tesla has gone from making exactly one car in 2008 to over 245,000 cars in 2018 and is headed towards well over 400,000 cars in 2019. They are all pure electric vehicles and Tesla will soon be building electric semi trucks and even pickup trucks!

The lunatic ignores the fact that major car manufacturers like VW, Mercedes, BMW, and Audi have all made clear that they are shifting their product lines to emphasize electric cars.

But the lunatic ignores anything that he finds inconvenient, such as proof that he paid huge sums to women he had extramarital relations with (even his own lawyer admitted it) just so that it would not be news before the 2016 election, or that he has lied about his net worth for years (which is why he is hiding his tax returns), or that his business was in fact heavily involved in Russia well into 2017 (and may still be for all we know) or that he lost the 2016 national popular vote by nearly three million votes, or so many other things that that I can’t list them all.

He embraces ruthless autocrats who murder their own people. He is still part of his businesss that has numerous investments around the world, investments that he  profits from in violation of the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution, investments that give foreigners and foreign governments undue influence over him.

But that’s not the worst thing about the lunatic occupying the Oval Office. The most serious problem is his complete lack of understanding of the Constitutional duties of his office and his utter disregard for the rule of law. He demands personal loyalty, like a Mafia don, and fires people when they won’t acknowledge that but instead say that they will faithfully uphold the law of the land. He repeatedly publicly attacks judges and the legal system and shows no understanding of the vital importance of an independent judiciary (even Justice Roberts was offended). He labels the press as “the enemy of the people” when he is criticized, confusing himself with “the people”. He is attacking the very idea of free speech.

He has a history of encouraging violence against those who disagree with him and now he has threatened violence against his opponents, saying “I can tell you I have the support of the police, the support of the military, the support of the Bikers for Trump — I have the tough people”.

This is unacceptable language from the President of the United States. It would be unacceptable language from a teenager, particularly if the teenager had access to the United State nuclear launch codes. Which the lunatic has access to.

Those who support the lunatic are enabling his horrific behavior. This has to stop. Impeachment is the only remedy allowed by law.  I saw the Watergate hearings broadcast live in 1973. Nixon denied all the impeachment charges against him. They turned out to be true. The nation was better for having initiated the process of removing Nixon from office, a man whose offenses were in fact less egregious than the harm the #lyinglunatic is currently inflicting on the country.

The Senate is controlled by Republican cowards who have sold their soul by supporting and enabling a man who is without question unfit for office. As things stand now it is obvious they will not vote to remove the lunatic from office if he is impeached by the House. But that may change as the lunatic becomes increasingly unhinged and irrational as the multiple investigations, both Federal and state, ratchet up the pressure on him. It’s time to force them to take a stand. It’s time for impeachment.
