The Extraordinary Koko-en Garden at Himeji Castle

Walking through the Koko-en Garden, located near the entrance to Himeji Castle, I imagined it to be centuries old. I was stunned to learn later that it was built in 1992!! The occasion was the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Himeji municipality. Clearly the Japanese are very proud to have the skill and knowledge to construct beautiful gardens based on centuries-old design principles. I took as many photos of the gardens as I did of the castle.
